Don Wong (b. 1978) is a former photojournalist currently refining his photography practice and way-of-seeing by documenting the built environment with an unsentimental gaze, paying closer attention instead to form, detail and presence.

With formal studies in interior architecture at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and an ongoing interest in painting and the decorative arts, Don continued his creative upbringing as a junior designer with an architectural design firm specialising in residences and hospitality spatial design.

Here, his fascination and fundamentals with photography began. Using the camera as an extension of sketching, he documented public and private spaces which evoked his curiousity for the often unseen and subliminal configurations of bulding structures.

Following a favourable portfolio review, he was then hired at a national newspaper as a photojournalist where he covered local and regional stories. During his tenure, he developed a fondness for the challenges in visual story telling and a well-written two line caption.

Don is currently self-represented in Singapore and accepts photography commissions for documentary, portraiture and the built environment.
